Latin Jazz

Bossa Brava is traditional Brazilian, Portuguese and Latin roots music with an eclectic style. The band has various percussion and soloist but the core members consist of guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Their repertoire ranges from classic bossa and sambas of Brazil to modern interpretations of the Portuguese folk music, Fado.

Guitar Lessons

Learn many different styles including Rock, Blues, Jazz, Folk, Latin/Brazilian, Rhythm and Lead, as well as proper technique, how to improvise-or “solo”, along with music theor

Bass Lessons

Brian Cruse has been teaching private lessons on Bass and guitar for the past 7 years.  He has a Bachelor’s degree in music from VCU as well as performing professionally in multiple bands.   He offers the convenient “house call” option making it easy on parents and students.  He teaches all styles of music including rock, blues, jazz, pop, and classical and he of course covers the absolute basics for beginners that have never played.  He is currently accepting students for the summer and fall season.  For more info contact Brian at (703)899-7534. 

Percussion Lessons

C.J. Wolfe has been teaching drum and percussion for at least 8 years.  He has studied classical and jazz music at VCU as well as performing professionally in a number of different bands ranging from rock and pop groups to experimental jazz.  He is currently teaching at the store Harrison Music located in the West End of Henrico near Regency Mall.  His curriculum covers all the basics including rudiments, proper technique, and reading music, but best of all he teaches students how to be musical and enjoy what they are doing.  Contact C.J. at (804)267-9298 or Harrison Music at (804)740-2644 for more information on scheduling lessons.
